ROCKWOOD ACADEMY RESTORATION UPDATE

Giaimo is excited to be working with the Ontario Heritage Trust on the conservation of Rockwood Academy. This project includes envelope restoration, partial roof replacement and mechanical and electrical upgrades, in collaboration with Tacoma Engineers, and Spline Group. 

The building has three main components; the 1854 Wetherald Block, the 1864 South Wing, and a gymnasium, added in 1867. Giaimo’s envelope conservation scope of work focusses on the Wetherald and South Wing sections. The contractor Roof Tile Management has begun construction, with scaffolding erected and repointing underway on the 1864 South Wing which includes removing Portland cement and adding new lime mortar.
