COMMUNITY POWERED PRESERVATION AT APT

Association For Preservation Technology (APT) Conference

The Association for Preservation Technology International (APT) is a multi-disciplinary, membership organization dedicated to promoting the best technology for protecting historic structures and their settings. The 2022 APT Conference is taking place in Detroit, Mi, November 7-12, 2022.

Creative Director Stephanie Mah will be presenting The Oculus as a case study as part of Session CS4.1: Community Powered Preservation on Wednesday, November 9, 10:30am-12pm. This session will will encourage and inspire attendees to pursue projects unique to their own communities. Projects that seemed impossible at the outset, built confidence in these three communities as they unfolded. Most important is that these communities and project teams persevered until reaching a successful conclusion. From the urban community of Forest Park Southeast in St. Louis, MO, to a cold northern abandoned jail in Duluth, MN adjacent to Lake Superior, to a neglected modern concrete park pavilion in Toronto, ONT, these preservation and adaptive reuse stories demonstrate the dedication and wide-ranging tools necessary for success.
